PBS TWO

Vision

The vision of Phoudations of Brothers and Sisters Through Writing Others (PBS TWO) is to provide young students in urban areas across the New York City Metro Area with a Literacy program that focuses on writing skills and fosters brother/sisterhood with college students from universities across the east coast. We believe the mentorship that comes from successful college students can have a profound impact on our younger generations and the future of our nation. Additionally, the literacy curriculum associated with PBS TWO will enhance the reading and writing skills of minority children in urban areas. Our principals of brotherhood, sisterhood, scholarship, service, and literary enhancement will drive us to be the most successful mentorship-writing program in preparing our students for rigorous literacy standards and assist in the mental and interpersonal relationship growth that all children need to develop.

What Makes PBS TWO, Inc. Different?

This non profit organization is unique and distinct because it combines writing skills and mentorship to help students develop relationships and enhance their literacy skills. There is a need for organizations to focus on literacy skills in urban areas because statistics prove that students in urban areas are performing significantly lower and writing significantly less. There is a really strong emphasis on reading as it should be, however, there is a direct correlation between writing and reading that should be recognized. Focusing on writing skills will consequently make students more marketable as they approach college and success thereafter. They need to realize that writing skills help produce great speakers and builds communication skills that will put them on a more successful life trajectory.
